Adventures ink ink.. process in making and painting with living ink

Living ink

Adventures in Ink

Adventures in Ink is a unique collection of nature-inspired drawings, where I use a fine liner pen on handmade paper from India and bring them to life with my own handcrafted living ink. Made from plants and food scraps, these inks are created using materials like avocado pits, beets, roses, and copper hash, which I soak in vinegar for four months. To preserve the integrity of the ink I add lemongrass oil then seal the paintings with wax.

Because these inks are naturally derived, they may fade over time, so I recommend keeping your artwork away from direct sunlight to ensure its longevity. Each piece in this collection is a celebration of nature’s beauty, captured through sustainable and mindful artistry.

Watercolor Succulents

Flowers and plants are my favorite subjects to paint. With over hundreds of different varieties of succulents makes them delightful to paint. I am constantly amazed at the colors of each plant and which one grows flowers. I get the question a lot about my garden, and yes I have succulents in my garden since they are so easy to take care of. Many of my paintings have multiple layers of watercolor paint to get the vibrant colors. Since I use photos to paint from I have friends sending me pictures of their succulents.

Watercolor Florals

Watercolor floral paintings that capture the delicate beauty and vibrant colors that make the flowers look lifelike. I build up layers of colors to add depth and texture to the flowers, I often paint on watercolor paper on a birch board to achieve this.
